Red Ceramic 'La Chasse' Bookends

Red Ceramic 'La Chasse' Bookends

£80.00Price
Very rare and unusual pair of art deco ceramic bookends in the form of two hunting dogs chasing a deer. Undoubtedly French and known as 'La Chasse' for The Hunt, they are likely to have been made by St Clement or Lemanceau and have 3080 stamped to the underside. In a leaping pose, both the dogs and deer running through long grass are beautifully modelled and in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a small patch of rubbing to the gild on the tip of the deer's nose. A truly spectacular pair of original art deco bookends and wonderfully coloured with gold highlights. Height - 17.5 cms. Length each - 16 cms. Depth - 8.5 cms.
