Maurier Penguin Clock Garniture

Stunning and rare art deco clock garniture. Made by French manufacturer Maurier in the Verdun region of France in the 1920s. This magnificent clock is in full working order with an 8 day pendulum movement and bell which strikes the hour and half hour. The beautiful piece is made from differing colours of onyx and marble; wonderful translucent cream and green with black and gold strips diagonally inlaid. In excellent condition with only very minor nibbles to the bases of the side pieces. Atop the clock is a charming trio of penguins made from chrome; an adult and two baby penguins which is a hard to find animal subject for the art deco era. The chrome is in excellent condition with very minor scratches only. The diamond shaped face is in similarly fantastic condition with minor signs of age. A truly superb vintage art deco clock garniture.
