Lefebvre Onnaing Lion & Lioness Bookends
£125.00Price
Very rare and unusual pair of French art deco ceramic bookends in the form of a lion and lioness. The bookends were designed by Ed Lefebvre for the Onnaing factory and are signed and backstamped as such. The factory slowed its production in 1936 and closed permanently in 1938 so these can be dated to the height of the art deco era. The figures are very well modelled and in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a small kiln frit to the back of the lioness. A truly spectacular pair of original art deco bookends and beautifully coloured with brown highlights. Height - 17 cms. Length each - 14 cms. Depth - 9.5 cms.
